1. Age and Occupation?

I’m 23 years old. I teach 6th-9th grade math at the Michigan School for the Deaf.

  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I’ve been doing CrossFit for 7 months.

  1. Why do you CrossFit?

I signed up for CrossFit at a very difficult time in my life, and it really did get me through. I love that it makes me feel physically strong, but more so I love the mental strength I’ve gained from CrossFit.

  1. What is your favorite movement?

Deadlifts and squat cleans. Anything that engages the lower body really.

  1. What is your least favorite movement?

Is rowing a movement? Because if so, rowing. Oh, and running… Let’s just make it a blanket statement: cardio is the worst.

  1. Do you follow a particular diet to fuel your training? Favorite foods?

I just try to keep my diet as clean as I possibly can about 80% of the time. The other 20% I indulge in foods I don’t normally eat. I don’t do great with tons of restriction, so finding balance has been key for me.

  1. What are your short-term goals?

I really want to get a strict pull-up and to lower my body fat %.

  1. What are your long-term goals?

I want to be able to deadlift twice my body weight by the end of this year.

  1. What is your biggest achievement at CFB?

My biggest achievement has been being able to run more than a mile. One of my first weeks at CFB the WOD finished off with a 5k and I knew I was toast (to be fair, that’s really mean. A whole 5k after a WOD? C’mon Jordan). I could only make it through a mile (barely, and it took like 15 minutes), and then had to row the remaining 3,000-ish meters (traumatizing). I was really disappointed in myself. Now I can run a 5k in under half an hour which makes my inner chubby middle-schooler so proud.

  1. If there was a WOD named after you, what would it be?

Oh my quad, you guys

3 RFT

20 Deadlifts

20 Squat cleans

20 Burpees to pull-ups (am I the only one who likes these?)
